# Setup

> One-time setup for the Denari Desktop application.

  Setup requires a Windows systems administrator.

When the Denari Desktop application is first installed, a one-time setup step needs to be completed by an administrator.

## Configuration

You will need to enter the following:

| Field                   | Description                                                                                                                         |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Client ID**           | Supplied by Denari. Global credentials used by the application to interact with the Denari backend.                                 |
| **Client Secret**       | Supplied by Denari. Global credentials used by the application to interact with the Denari backend.                                 |
| **Root Data Directory** | Where the local application database will live. This is where usernames, passwords for upload documents, and other data are stored. |

  Once these values have been set, they cannot be changed. Double-check them before clicking **Set Configuration**.

Once the form has been filled, click the **Set Configuration** button to proceed to the login screen.

If these values have already been set, opening the application will take you directly to the login screen.
