# Export a binder

> Financial statements, the trial balance, journal entries, and the document set.

Every export lives on the **Settings** tab, and they remain available on a [locked](/papers/binder-settings#lock-or-delete-a-binder) binder.

## Financial statements

| Export | Produces |
| - | - |
| **Financials PDF** | Balance sheet and income statement as a packet, with a cover page |
| **GAAP PDF** | GAAP-compliant statements |
| **Mapped Financials PDF** | Statements using your firm's own account numbers |

**Mapped Financials** is disabled until map numbers are assigned in the [chart of accounts](/papers/chart-of-accounts). It's what makes statements read identically across every client, so it's worth the setup on a recurring engagement.

  Comparative figures come from the prior-year data pulled during a [QBO
  import](/papers/trial-balance). A trial balance loaded from CSV or Excel has
  no prior year unless you supplied one.

## Trial balance

Both offer an **Include tick marks** toggle, which carries your [tick mark](/papers/chart-of-accounts#tick-marks) annotations into the export. For a reviewer or a file copy, turn it on. It's the record of what you checked.

## Journal entries

| Format | For |

| **CSV** | Spreadsheets and general import |
| **IIF** | QuickBooks Desktop |
| **PDF** | Review and the file |

Entries are grouped by number in the PDF so one entry never splits across a page break.

To push entries into QuickBooks Online instead of exporting them, use the sync on the [Journal entries](/papers/journal-entries#push-entries-back-to-quickbooks) tab.

## Tax (Tax binders)

**UltraTax CS** on the tax trial balance exports mapped accounts and their tax codes as an import-ready CSV. Unmapped accounts are skipped with a count. See [Tax trial balance](/papers/tax-trial-balance#export-to-ultratax-cs).
