Answers connects to your firm’s Thomson Reuters Practice CS database, giving you the ability to ask questions about time entries, billing, clients, staff, projects, and more — all in plain English.

What data is available

Answers has read-only access to your firm’s Practice CS data, including:
  • Time and expenses — Billable and non-billable hours, expense entries, rates, and amounts
  • Clients and engagements — Client details, engagement types, and project hierarchies
  • Staff and departments — Employee information, department assignments, and roles
  • Billing — Invoice history, billing decisions, and revenue figures
  • Projects and tasks — Project tracking, task assignments, and scheduling

Example questions

Here are some things you can ask when Practice CS is connected:
  • “What were our total billable hours last quarter?”
  • “Which staff members have the highest utilization rate?”
  • “Show me revenue by department for the past 6 months.”
  • “How many hours has the Tax department billed to Client X?”
  • “What’s the breakdown of billable vs. non-billable time this year?”

How it works

When you ask a question that requires Practice CS data, Answers runs a query against your database behind the scenes. You’ll see an Analyzing… section in the chat while it works. Once complete, it presents the results as text, a table, or a chart.
Your data is accessed securely with read-only credentials — Answers cannot modify any records in Practice CS.
