Intake is a triage queue for documents arriving at your firm. Instead of landing directly in the library, incoming files wait in Intake where you review them, give them attributes, match them to a client, and then file them — so the library stays clean and consistently tagged.

How documents arrive

Documents show up in Intake grouped into bundles. A bundle is a set of documents that came in together. Bundles can be created by:
  • Uploading files directly into Intake.
  • Upload integrations such as the virtual printer or the desktop app, which create bundles automatically and record where each one came from (its source and originating app).

My vs. Firm

Intake has two scopes:
  • My — bundles assigned to or uploaded by you.
  • Firm — all incoming bundles across the firm.
Switch between them to focus on your own queue or pitch in on the firm’s backlog.

Filing a bundle

1

Open a bundle

Select a bundle to see the documents it contains.
2

Set attributes

Fill in the document’s attributes — document type, year, and any custom fields. The attribute editor saves automatically as you go.
3

Match a client

Match the document to the right client or entity so it lands in the correct place in the library.
4

Approve and file

Approve the document and file it into the library. Once filed, it’s searchable and grouped alongside the rest of your firm’s documents.
Intake is built for speed. The approve, match, and file actions are all keyboard-driven, so you can clear a bundle without reaching for the mouse.

After filing

Filed documents become regular library documents — fully searchable (including by their contents via OCR), groupable by attribute, and ready to be referenced into a Papers project. See Library & Search for what you can do next.
