Approvals are the fine-grained sign-off within a binder. They’re separate from submitting the binder for review, which is the sign-off on the whole thing.

Documents

Right-click any document on the Documents tab → approve or unapprove. The Approve / Unapprove buttons on the document page do the same. Any user assigned to the binder can approve, and approvals are attributed:
  • Preparers get a blue initials badge
  • Reviewers get a green initials badge
Because both roles can approve the same document, a workpaper can carry a blue badge and a green badge, prepared and reviewed, visible at a glance from the document list. Approve in bulk by selecting several documents first. See Bulk actions.

Accounts

An account is marked reviewed from its reconciliation screen, not from the trial balance grid. Open the account, check the tie-out, and click Mark as Reviewed. Skip moves to the next account without signing this one off.
Only a reviewer can mark an account reviewed. If the button is disabled, you are not assigned as a reviewer on this binder. Add yourself from Settings.
Back on the trial balance, a reviewed account shows a distinct icon on its row, so you can see what has been signed off without opening anything. Unlike documents, an account carries one approval, so the reviewed state is unambiguous.

How it fits together

Document and account approvals are the evidence; the binder review is the decision.
