Supported document types
Denari supports the following document types directly:- Excel (.xlsx, .xls)
- PDF (.pdf)
- Microsoft Word (.docx)
- JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg)
- PNG (.png)
- HEIC (.heic)
Upload documents
To upload documents to a project, click the Documents tab and upload your files. There are three document tabs:- Workpapers — Documents used as direct project support. These are ingested and processed by AI to find matches for your trial balance values.
- Other documents — Supporting documents not used for trial balance reconciliation.
- [Entity Name] documents — Entity-level documents accessible from every project tied to that entity.
Edit documents in Denari
Denari supports editing PDF and Excel documents directly in the web app. Open a document and click the Edit button. When done, click Save changes.PDF editing
PDF editing includes the following annotation tools:- Highlighter — Yellow highlight
- Ink/Drawing — Red freehand drawing
- Text — Red text boxes
- Line — Red straight lines
- Rectangle — Light green rectangles
- Undo/Redo — Step backward or forward through edits
Some PDFs have disabled permissions (annotating, printing, editing) set by the original document owner. A notification bar will appear when this is the case.
Excel editing
Excel editing includes a toolbar with formatting, formulas, and features like pivot tables.Edit with SharePoint
For users who prefer Excel or Microsoft Word, documents can be edited through Microsoft SharePoint:- Click the SharePoint link on the document page to open the file in the web app
- For desktop editing, click Editing > Open in Desktop in the Excel/Word web app
- When finished, click SharePoint > Sync from Microsoft to apply changes back to Denari
Edit on your desktop
If you prefer to use a desktop application that isn’t Excel or Word:Edit
Make edits on your desktop using your application of choice (Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, etc.).
Document approvals
On the documents tab, right-click any document to approve or unapprove it. Any user assigned to the project can approve or unapprove:- Preparers get a blue initials badge
- Reviewers get a green initials badge
